We're growing! Electroform is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Mold Designer to join our team. The Mold Designer will be responsible for designing high-precision injection molds used in the production of plastic components across various industries, specifically the medical industry. Job Summary:

The Mold Designer plays a critical role in the end-to-end development of high-precision plastic injection molds by creating detailed and accurate 3D and 2D designs using sophisticated CAD software. This position ensures that all tooling designs are optimized for manufacturability, durability, and efficient production, directly influencing the quality and performance of the molded parts.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Design complete injection molds using 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, etc.)
  • Create detailed drawings and documentation packages, including BOMs.
  • Evaluate part geometry and make design recommendations for manufacturability.
  • Design mold features including gates, runners, slides, lifters, and cooling systems.
  • Collaborate with engineers and toolmakers to ensure design integrity.
  • Participate in design and tooling kickoff meetings with internal teams and customers.
  • Support design revisions based on internal review and customer feedback.
  • Assist with troubleshooting mold issues and contributing to design improvements.

Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient in 3D CAD and drawing creation (SolidWorks preferred).
  • Working knowledge of injection mold design and mold components.
  • Ability to interpret part drawings and apply GD&T principles.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Capable of managing multiple design projects independently.

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical certification in mechanical design or tool design is a plus

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit or work at a computer for extended periods of time.
  • Occasional shop floor presence required for design reviews or issue resolution.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds.
