Montclair Public Library’s Digital Navigation Program aims to increase digital literacy and address the gaps in service to underserved communities in our town. Driven by the core librarianship values of Access and Public Good, we aim to equip our patrons with the tools to engage with a rapidly changing digital landscape–tools now crucial to navigate their daily lives. Digital Navigation Corps is a program of Literacy Minnesota, an organization that connects people to transformative learning, sparks innovation in literacy and mobilizes change. Literacy Minnesota envisions a future where literacy eliminates injustices and strengthens communities. The literacy work that began 50 years ago in Minnesota is now nationwide, providing curriculum, classes, workshops and research to partners and learners. Digital Navigation Corps is Literacy Minnesota’s response to the digital skills-gap that impacts communities across the country. Built on a longstanding tradition of service, and pioneering the newest resources in digital learning, Digital Navigation Corps addresses critical digital literacy needs by bringing Digital Navigators to work alongside community members who are striving to reach their professional goals. Digital navigators will support community members through one-on-one mentorship, classroom-based instruction, and resource guide creation and referrals
