EDUCATION :
Associates Degree
Completion of sixty (60) college credit hours at an accredited college or university
CERTIFICATION :
Paraprofessional certification as required by the District and the State Board in one of the following categories: Educational Aide I; Educational Aide II; or Educational Aide III Enrollment in a teacher alternative preparation program or a traditional university teacher preparation program.
High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY :
The Associate Teacher in the Moonshot pilot classroom will collaborate closely with a master classroom teacher and an apprentice teacher to implement and refine innovative teaching strategies. Utilizing a variety of co-teaching methods such as one teach/one observe, station teaching, parallel teaching, flexible grouping, and other team-teaching approaches, the Associate Teacher will enhance the learning experience for students. By leveraging diverse instructional techniques, the Associate Teacher will provide individualized support, maintain continuity of instruction, and contribute to a smaller class size, ensuring that each student receives personalized attention and support. In addition to supporting students, this role offers the opportunity for the Associate Teacher to grow their skillset as an educator. Through hands-on experience in a collaborative and dynamic classroom environment, the Associate Teacher will develop key teaching strategies, classroom management techniques, and instructional practices that will prepare them for future roles in education, with the potential to transition into a full-time teaching position within North East ISD.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Collaborates closely with certified classroom teachers to implement effective co-teaching methods, instructional goals, strategies, and classroom management techniques, ensuring alignment with student-centered learning and success.
2. Provides continuous support in the classroom, working alongside the regular teacher or in their absence, maintaining instructional consistency and personalized learning experiences for students.
3. Assists in the planning and implementation of instructional activities that align with curriculum objectives, fostering an inclusive and engaging environment that meets the diverse needs of all students.
4. Monitors and supports student behavior and engagement, ensuring a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment that encourages academic, social, and personal growth.
5. Provides timely, constructive feedback to classroom teachers on student progress, challenges, and achievements, helping to identify opportunities for individualized support and improvement.
6. Adheres to all district and school policies, rules, and procedures, maintaining high standards of professionalism and instructional excellence as outlined by the district's mission.
7. Fosters a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere by building positive relationships with students, staff, and families, contributing to the development of a strong, thriving school community.
8. Actively participates in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and other school activities to continually grow as an educator and contribute to the success of the school as needed.
9. Support in maintaining records of daily activities, and any incidents, ensuring transparency and accountability in all classroom operations.
10. Communicates effectively and proactively with school administration, teachers, and support staff, keeping them informed about student needs, concerns, and successes to maintain strong stakeholder engagement.
11. Takes all necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities, ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment for all.
12. Maintains confidentiality of student and school information, respecting privacy and adhering to district policies regarding sensitive data.
13. Performs additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• General knowledge of teaching and learning principles
- Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Willingness to work collaboratively with a NEISD classroom teacher
- Ability to adjust and be flexible to a multitude of situations as they occur

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
