Responsibilities
- Assist in gathering and verifying borrower financial information, including income, assets, and credit reports
- Support the loan origination process by preparing and submitting loan applications using industry-standard software such as Quicken or other financial tools
- Learn to analyze credit reports and perform basic math calculations to assess borrower eligibility
- Help coordinate with underwriters, escrow officers, and loan processors to ensure smooth loan processing and compliance with Fair Housing regulations
- Participate in customer service interactions by answering inquiries, explaining loan options, and guiding clients through the application process
- Support loan officers in maintaining accurate documentation for TILA (Truth in Lending Act) disclosures and FNMA (Fannie Mae) guidelines
- Develop an understanding of mortgage servicing procedures, including escrow management and loan closing contracts
Requirements
- Strong interest in financial sales, banking, or mortgage lending with a desire to develop a career as a mortgage professional
- Basic math skills and proficiency with 10-key typing for data entry and calculations
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- Familiarity with accounting or financial software such as Quicken or similar programs is preferred
- Knowledge of FNMA guidelines, TILA regulations, Fair Housing laws, and mortgage servicing practices is a plus
- Previous experience in loan officer roles or related financial services positions is advantageous but not required
- Ability to handle sensitive information discreetly while adhering to confidentiality standards
- Willingness to learn underwriting processes, loan processing steps, and contract review procedures
