The Department of Computer Information Systems seeks an MOS Administrative Lecturer to support instructional delivery and administrative coordination associated with Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification initiatives. Required qualifications include a master’s degree in a business-related field. Preference will be given to candidates with education in computer information systems or a related discipline, along with prior teaching experience in higher education, analytics with spreadsheet technology, and administrative experience administering MOS exams.
It is preferred that the successful candidate holds the MOS Excel Associate 365 Apps certification at the time of hire or commits to obtaining it within 60 days of employment (administered through the CIS department). Experience in troubleshooting technical issues related to certification exams or computing environments is highly desirable. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to support students and faculty in technology-based learning and assessment settings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The MOS Administrative Lecturer position is a 12-month leave-earning faculty position. This position will be on campus, teaching the introductory spreadsheet analytics course (CIS 1060) with a course load of 2 in the Fall, 2 in the Spring, and 1 in the Summer. In addition, this position will assume year-round responsibility for administering Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) examinations and related certification activities. This includes managing all communications, scheduling, setup, proctoring, and oversight of MOS exams for students across Boone, Hickory, PKH/Flight Path, and online sections. Exam administration responsibilities occur on weekdays, weeknights, and weekends, as needed.
Administrative duties include managing the GMetrix, SignUp Genius, Cengage, and Certiport systems. Responsibilities also include coordinating exam scheduling and lab reservations, reserving Certiport testing times, validating student credentials, and proctoring both in-person and online exams. The position involves certifying and supervising additional MOS proctors and coordinating with faculty in courses that embed MOS certification. Additional responsibilities include verifying student eligibility for testing, reporting certification results for assessment purposes, communicating testing options to students, managing Certiport and GMetrix licenses, and overseeing tutoring assignments for CIS 1060, including supervision of assigned graduate assistants.
