Position Overview

We seek a talented Motion Graphics Designer and 3D Animator to join our dynamic content production team. This hybrid role combines the creative and technical aspects of motion graphics design with 3D animation to produce engaging, high-quality training modules. You will be responsible for integrating motion graphics elements into our existing content using our proprietary design language and creating 3D animations that illustrate complex technical ideas, environments, and tactical situations.

This position is ideal for a multifaceted professional who excels in both 2D motion graphics and 3D animation. You will play a crucial role in enhancing the visual impact of our training materials, making challenging concepts accessible and engaging for defense personnel.

Key Responsibilities

Motion Graphics Design

- Integration of Motion Graphics:

- Utilize industry-standard software (e.g., After Effect and full Creative Cloud Suite) to design and generate motion graphics.

- Incorporate motion graphics into training modules to enhance visual storytelling and learner engagement.

- Design, build, and use advanced motion graphics toolkits.

- Apply elements of our proprietary design language to ensure consistency and brand alignment across all content.

- Design Consistency and Quality:

- Maintain a consistent visual style in line with DVITS's design guidelines.

- Ensure all motion graphics elements align with instructional objectives and content narratives.

- Collaboration:

- Work closely with editors, instructional designers, and other team members to understand project requirements and objectives.

- Participate in team meetings to discuss project timelines, feedback, and improvements.

3D Animation

- Creation of 3D Animations:

- Develop high-quality 3D animations that effectively communicate complex technical concepts, procedures, and scenarios.

- Visualize and animate environments, equipment operations, and tactical situations relevant to defense training.

- Technical Execution:

- Utilize industry-standard 3D software (e.g., Maya, 3ds Max, Blender) for modeling, rigging, animating, and rendering assets.

- Apply advanced techniques in texturing, lighting, and visual effects to enhance realism and impact.

- Conceptualization:

- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and instructional designers to translate scripts and storyboards into compelling visual animations.

- Interpret complex ideas and technical information to create accurate and engaging animations.

General Responsibilities

- Project Management:

- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met without compromising quality.

- Organize and maintain a library of motion graphics and 3D assets for efficient workflow and future use.

- Quality Assurance:

- Review and refine all visual content to ensure high-quality output.

- Implement feedback from project leads and clients, making necessary adjustments promptly.

- Innovation and Improvement:

- Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in motion graphics and 3D animation.

- Propose new ideas and techniques to enhance the effectiveness of our training content.

Qualifications

Education

- Bachelor's degree in Animation, Motion Graphics, Graphic Design, Computer Graphics, or a related field.

Experience

- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience combining motion graphics design and 3D animation.

- Strong portfolio demonstrating motion graphics and 3D animation expertise, preferably with technical or instructional content.

Technical Skills

- Software Proficiency:

- Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly After Effects, Illustrator, and Photoshop.

- Proficiency in 3D animation software such as Maya, 3ds Max, or Blender.

- Animation Techniques:

- Strong understanding of animation principles, motion design, modeling, rigging, texturing, lighting, and rendering.

- Design Principles:

- Excellent grasp of typography, color theory, composition, and visual storytelling.

- Technical Aptitude:

- Ability to visualize and animate abstract concepts and technical information accurately.

Soft Skills

- Collaboration:

- Effective communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

- Time Management:

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.

- Attention to Detail:

- Meticulous approach to ensuring consistency and quality in all aspects of work.

Other Qualifications

- Preferred candidates will have experience creating pipeline and graphics tools with After Effects Expressions and/or Maya/MEL scripting.

- Familiarity with defense or technical training content is a plus but not required.

- Must be able to pass background and security screenings in compliance with federal contract requirements.

- Ability to adapt to a structured design framework while maintaining creativity within guidelines.
