MRI Technologist

Job Summary and Responsibilities

The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) procedures to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. This role involves preparing patients for MRI scans, ensuring their comfort and safety, and explaining the procedure to reduce anxiety. The technologist operates MRI equipment to capture high-quality images of the body’s internal structures while following safety protocols and adhering to patient care standards. Additionally, they collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to evaluate images, maintain accurate patient records, and ensure that equipment is properly maintained and calibrated. A strong understanding of anatomy, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are crucial in delivering optimal diagnostic results and excellent patient care.

  • Performs routine assignments independently, consistently prioritizes when completing assignments.
  • Displays competency operating equipment including performing procedures in the department, in the operating room, and on a mobile basis.
  • Utilizes good radiation and magnetic field safety practices for patients, self and others by use of available radiation protection devices. Ensure badges are worn appropriately and readings are available.
  • Displays a thorough knowledge of anatomy, positioning and of various drugs and contrast media utilized. Displays competency injecting contrast media, if required.
  • Accurately annotates MRI Images assuring correct identification in PACS.
  • Accurately completes electronic documentation in Meditech and PACS.
  • Practices good sterile technique when required and utilizes universal precautions and other infection control practices as appropriate.
  • Properly reviews images and consults with radiologist for invasive procedures, prior to procedure.
  • Maintains equipment in good operating order: communicates the need for repair to supervisor, especially electrical and mechanical hazards.
  • Establishes and accurately maintains files, database(s), coding practice, and records on an ongoing basis for the department.
  • Effectively collaborates with imaging team, physicians, and other hospital departments.

Job Requirements

Requirements:
Graduate of AMA approved school of radiological technology upon hire
Minimum seven (7) years experience in Imaging with at least 5 years in MRI.
American Heart Association BLS
ARRT (RTR) or
ARMRIT MRI

Pay Range

$39.18 - $58.28 /hour
