Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities:
Assist with patient evaluations, run equipment, and assist in all aspects of patient testing visits.
Assist with data collection and processing and analysis for all movement assessments in children and young adults.
Provide technical assistance for the Movement Science Lab.
Serve as research assistant to the Movement Science Lab senior staff.
Organize data and generate data summaries for the PI or other study personnel to conduct statistical analyses
Assist in abstract preparation
Present research findings or study updates at in-house conferences
Demonstrates ability to interact with pre-school, school-age, and adolescent children at developmentally appropriate level
Other reasonably related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in bioengineering, biomechanics, computer science, or a related field with an interest in biomechanics, motion analysis required
Experience with computers required, programming experience preferred
Knowledge of biomedical terminology, anatomy and biomechanics preferred
Knowledge or previous experience in a Movement Science Lab preferred
Experience with motion capture preferred
Must be self-motivated, take direction, ask questions, and respond to feedback
Able to work successfully both independently and in group-settings
Expected to work at a last pace with attention to detail
Office, research, or health care experience preferred
Experience with electronic medical records preferred
Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
Research Assistants are expected to be actively involved in all aspects of patient engagement from greeting and introducing the family to the lab through assisting during all aspects of patient testing. Based on their interests, RAs may have occasional, one-time, shadowing opportunities in other areas of the hospital. Regardless of their background, the successful candidate can expect to work as a part of an interdisciplinary team that encourages collaboration. This may involve orthopedics, sports medicine (Frisco MSL), neurology, physical therapy, psychology, engineering.
