Role Summary:
The MDI Inspector performs independent inspection, surveillance, and verification activities for structural fabrication, hook-up, installation, and painting/coating works, ensuring compliance with Company requirements, approved procedures, and international codes and standards.
Key Responsibilities
General Inspection:

Conduct inspections per approved
ITPs, specifications, and international codes
.

Verify compliance of fabrication, installation, hook-up, and coating with drawings, specifications, and method statements.
-
Attend HOLD and WITNESS points; ensure all activities follow
HSE policies
.
Structural Fabrication:
-
Inspect cutting, fit-up, welding, assembly, and dimensional accuracy.

Verify WPS/PQR compliance, monitor welder/NDT qualifications, and maintain material traceability.
-
Witness NDT, raise NCRs, and ensure corrective action closure.
Hook-Up & Installation:
-
Inspect structural connections, equipment/piping tie-ins, and mechanical completion.

Witness functional checks, load tests, and verify tagging/stamping.

Support pre-commissioning and commissioning readiness.
Painting & Coating:
-
Inspect surface preparation, blasting, cleaning, and environmental conditions.

Verify paint materials, thickness (DFT), curing, and adhesion tests.

Conduct coating inspections, review, and endorse inspection reports.
Documentation & Reporting:

Prepare timely inspection reports, logs, and surveillance records.

Review contractor records and support mechanical completion dossiers.
Quality, HSE & Professional Conduct:

Ensure compliance with HSE policies and safe working practices.

Maintain independence, impartiality, and professional ethics.

Coordinate effectively with contractors, QA/QC teams, and COMPANY representatives.
Qualifications & Certifications:
Education & Experience:
-
Diploma/bachelor’s in mechanical
or Structural Engineering.
-
10+ years’ experience in structural fabrication, hook-up, installation, and painting/coating.
-
Experience in oil & gas offshore/onshore projects.
Certifications (Mandatory/Preferred):
-
CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector
-
NACE CIP Level 2 / BGAS Grade 2 Painting Inspector
-
NDT Level II (RT, UT, MT, PT) – preferred
Technical Competency:
-
Knowledge of structural fabrication, welding, hook-up, painting/coating systems.

Familiarity with API, ASME, AWS, ISO, NACE, SSPC standards.

Ability to read drawings, specifications, ITPs, and method statements.
