Job Description:
With an emphasis serving schools with diverse and low-socioeconomic student populations and non-traditional learning environments, Skyrocket leadership has over a century’s worth of combined experience leading schools and operational support teams. Skyrocket’s niche expertise is in the intersection between academic and administrative performance.
This role will have a home office with a required 20+ days onsite at Skyrocket's corporate headquarters in Pasadena, CA for company events, department meetings and professional development.
This role will also require scheduled travel for event video creation, which will include ribbon cuttings, student events, and graduations for CA and out of state Schools. You will be creating end products with whole reflection videos for direct shoots. You will also be the direct support for additional videographers and all vendors and support the creative director.
Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:*
Videography & Storytelling
Plan, shoot, and edit compelling videos that highlight student success, school culture, and community engagement.
Produce content for enrollment campaigns, school events, staff features, and social media storytelling.
Create a mix of promotional, documentary-style, and student-centered videos to reflect the authentic voice of our schools.
Student, Client, and Freelance Partner Engagement
Enrollment & Branding Support
Collaborate with the Student Engagement Team to develop video content that directly supports enrollment goals.
Translate school values and culture into media that resonates with prospective students and families.
Strengthen school branding through consistent, high-quality multimedia storytelling.
Freelancer & Project Management
Oversee freelance videographers, editors, and designers to supplement in-house production.
Review outsourced work to ensure quality, consistency, and alignment with school culture.
Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables across multiple clients, and vendor partners.
Operations & Strategy
Maintain a well-organized media library of video, photo, and digital assets.
Track performance of video and social content to inform future strategies.
Stay current with trends in student engagement, video marketing, and social platforms.
Maintain, operate, and organize video equipment (cameras, microphones, lighting, and related gear) to ensure high-quality content production and proper storage/care of school media assets.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Superior written and oral communication skills
Intermediate graphic design abilities
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exits
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Must be innovative, proactive and a strong team player and problem-solver
Ability to write or translate written posts and other promotional content into Spanish a plus
Proven experience in videography, editing, and multimedia production (portfolio required).
Strong storytelling skills, especially highlighting people, culture, and community.
Experience managing freelancers or contractors preferred.
Comfortable engaging with students, staff, and families in diverse school settings.
Ability to balance hands-on production with project management responsibilities.
Knowledge of social media platforms and video best practices for engagement.
Passion for education and showcasing student voice.
Education and Experience:
BA/BS in Marketing or Communications preferred
Extensive professional experience with Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Google, and blogging
Working knowledge of Hootsuite, Hubspot, Google Analytics, and Salesforce platforms preferred
