This Opportunity

FPA is currently searching for a full-time Municipal Project Manager in our Newark, New Jersey Office. The ideal candidate will be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) with a strong background in public works projects, excellent communication skills, and proven project management experience. This role requires close collaboration with municipal clients, internal teams, and regulatory agencies to deliver high-quality, cost-effective engineering solutions. Responsibilities

Manage all phases of municipal engineering projects, including scope development, budgeting, design, permitting, and construction administration.
Serve as the primary point of contact for municipal clients, ensuring effective communication and strong client relationships.
Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, including civil, structural, environmental, and utility engineers.
Prepare and review technical reports, design plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
Oversee project schedules, budgets, and quality assurance processes.
Assist in the preparation of proposals, qualifications packages, and presentations for new project opportunities.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and permitting requirements.
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
Represent the firm at public meetings, council sessions, and client presentations.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
8+ years of progressive experience in municipal engineering, with demonstrated project management responsibilities.
Proven experience in the design and management of municipal infrastructure projects such as roadways, water distribution, sanitary sewer, and stormwater systems.
Strong knowledge of applicable municipal design standards, permitting processes, and funding programs.
Excellent project management, communication, and leadership skills.
Proficiency in engineering and design software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with GIS a plus.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation

The projected compensation range for this position is $115,000 to $150,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as experience, education and skill set.
