The Raclin Murphy Museum of Art strives to create positions for students to work closely with a specific Museum department while allowing moments for broad learning of museum practice.
The Raclin Murphy Museum of Art Education department hosts Open Studio, a monthly open studio program for visitors of all ages to explore their creativity in proximity to the Museum’s collection and exhibitions. Our Studio spaces amplify and complement the gallery experience through hands-on making and exploration of materials, prompting a deeper understanding and connection with art, ourselves, and each other.
These open-ended art-making sessions in the Studio space are \"open\" in many aspects—open to a diversity of ages, experiences with art and art-making, touchpoints/experiences with the Museum, etc. This position will plan and prepare the projects for these sessions, host sessions as both a friendly guide and representative of the Museum, and inspire creativity in all visitors to the Studios.
