Job Summary:
Alia Autism Center is seeking a dedicated and creative Music Teacher to plan and deliver engaging music sessions for children and young adults with autism and related developmental needs. The successful candidate will use music as a tool to support communication, social interaction, emotional expression, sensory regulation, and overall student development within a structured and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Plan, prepare, and deliver music lessons and activities tailored to students with diverse learning, behavioral, and communication needs.

Use music to support the development of communication, attention, participation, emotional expression, and social skills.

Adapt teaching methods, materials, and instruments to suit individual student abilities and sensory profiles.

Incorporate singing, rhythm, movement, instruments, and interactive musical activities into sessions.

Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and support staff to align music activities with student goals and individualized plans.

Monitor student progress and maintain appropriate records, observations, and reports as required.

Support students during group activities, performances, special events, and center-based programs.

Create a safe, positive, and motivating learning environment that encourages participation and creativity.

Manage student behavior positively and effectively in line with the center’s policies and approaches.

Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development activities as required.
Qualifications and Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, Special Education, or a related field.

Previous teaching experience as a music teacher, preferably with children or young adults.

Experience working with students with autism or special educational needs is highly preferred.

Good understanding of differentiated instruction and how to adapt lessons for varying developmental levels.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.

Patient, flexible, creative, and enthusiastic in working with students with diverse needs.

Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Skills:

Knowledge of autism, sensory needs, and behavior support strategies.

Ability to play one or more musical instruments.

Experience in using music for developmental and therapeutic support.

Confidence in leading both individual and group sessions.
