Summary

We are seeking passionate and experienced Music Teachers to lead after-school

elementary Band and/or Strings classes in Fountain Valley or surrounding areas. Teachers

will work with students in grades 3–5, providing high-quality music instruction in both

group and ensemble settings. Classes run twice a week after school (approximately 2:30–

3:30 PM) and operate from October through May/June, following the school calendar.

Teachers prepare students for three public performances during the school year.

Instruments to Teach

Band: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone, Percussion

Strings: Violin, Viola, Cello

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate music instruction for elementary

students

  • Teach note reading, music theory, ensemble skills, and proper instrument

technique

  • Conduct rehearsals and prepare students for performances
  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate varying skill levels and instruments
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and motivating classroom environment
  • Manage classroom behavior and maintain a safe, organized learning space
  • Communicate effectively with program staff, parents, and school personnel
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedbackMinimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree (or current enrollment) in Music Education, Performance, or

related field

  • Minimum of two years of experience teaching children instrumental music
  • Ability to read music fluently and conduct in 4/4, 3/4, and 2/4 time signatures
  • Knowledge of proper playing techniques and care for band or string instruments
  • Strong classroom management and communication skills
  • Reliable, organized, and punctual

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience teaching in a group or ensemble setting
  • Knowledge of developmental learning strategies for elementary-age students
  • Ability to lead performances and coordinate with accompanists or ensembles

Pay: $35.00 per hour
