As the MWR/Fitness Specialist , you execute successful operations of physical fitness and wellness programs, recreational programs and social activities, including the operation and maintenance of recreational and fitness facilities. The Specialist shall actively engage with customers regarding programs and events and shall encourage participation. The Specialist shall be present at events to effectively execute and monitor the programs. Duties will include cashier functions, setup and hosting of activities and events, inventory control and counting, customer service, retail support, library and learning resource support, alcohol service & sales, and other duties as assigned.
The Specialist must have the ability to assist in execution and officiating of all fitness events inclusive of but not exclusive to intramural league sports, weightlifting competitions, 5Ks, 10Ks, Biggest Loser, marathons, and fitness tournaments. Must have a basic knowledge of fitness programs, sports, officiating rules, and fitness equipment.
The Specialist will also assist in other areas of coverage inclusive of pool operations, lodging & linen operations, and custodial operations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Shall perform NAF re-sale cashier operations inclusive of cashiering, funds control, and conformance to all local operating instructions and policies inclusive of handling and selling alcohol products.
- Will be knowledgeable of the regulations and rules of play regarding all activities and tournaments hosted within the facilities.
- Actively engage with guests regarding programs and events.
- Will maintain all MWR facilities in a clean, sanitary, healthy, and professional manner free of dust, dirt, debris, clutter, and trash.
- Will conduct weekly events include bingo, Texas Hold’em, foosball, dominoes, spades, bid whiz, karaoke, pizza night, pool, ping pong, video game tournaments, etc.
- Food giveaways such as complimentary pizza, subs, and donuts shall be used to enhance scheduled programs.
- Handle customer inquiries, check in/out games, play movies, provide information of upcoming trips/tours, decorate for holidays, develop and run tournaments, count customers, provide information of upcoming events, and ensure complimentary consumable items are provided to customers such as popcorn at all times.
- Shall verify all supplies necessary to enjoy the complimentary items are properly stocked
- Provide, using Government provided software, LRC support services inclusive of inventory, marketing/publicity, administrative functions, item check-out and check-in, stock returns, tracking overdue items, issuing overdue notices, bar coding items for all items and other duties as assigned.
- Participate in loading, unloading and storing of purchased goods.
- Perform successful operations of 24-hour Fitness Center and fitness & sports program ensuring all PWS requirements are maintained.
- Perform or oversee the maintenance of the facility ensuring a clean, sanitary, presentable, professional work area free of dirt, debris, clutter, trash and dust.
- Perform cleaning, maintenance and repairs of all fitness equipment related to the fitness program.
- Assist in execution of required tournaments, special events, fitness incentive programs, and aerobics/strength training classes IAW government requirements. Fitness program may include between eight (8) and ten (10) special sports events each month such as weekly tournaments for sports other than the current league sport, and competitions such as weightlifting, 5k and 10k fun runs
- Assist with other facilities or departments as needed to ensure mission success.
- Coordinate
- Monitor all OCN staff associated with the department and if needed other departments.
- Ensure Fitness Equipment Preventative Maintenance services are completed IAW the PWS.
- Assist in operation checks and warranty services on fitness equipment IAW manufacturer’s guidelines.
- Assist in daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual preventive maintenance, adjustments, and repair
- Identify and make recommendations for repair or replacement of equipment

- Other duties as assigned by Site Manager.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- One (1) years’ experience in DoD sports and fitness programs or two (2) years’ experience of comparable civilian profession.
- Beginner to intermediate level of all Microsoft products including Excel, Word, and Power Point.
LICENSE & CERTIFICATIONS:
- Valid CPR and First Aid certification
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must have a valid U.S. Driver's License.
- Possess a valid U.S. Passport (preferred)
- Must be able to meet all current USCENTCOM Deployment Policy Requirements, as outlined in the USCENTCOM APR 23 MOD SEVENTEEN TO USCENTCOM INDIVIDUAL AND INDIVIDUAL-UNIT DEPLOYMENT POLICY
- Able to obtain and maintain a valid Residency Visa for the Kuwait.
- Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
- Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Ability to officiate recreational sports events inclusive of but not exclusive to flag-football, soccer, volleyball, and basketball. (Preferred)
TRAVEL: 100%, in deployed location .
SECURITY CLEARANCE: Must have and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
