About the Role
Karama is seeking professional caregivers to join our private childcare marketplace serving families across NYC. We are moving Beyond Childcare by prioritizing human compatibility and cultural fit over traditional, text-heavy resumes.
As a caregiver on our platform, you will manage a professional profile that uses photos and personality prompts to match with families who align with your specific caregiving style and values. We have families in app looking for part-time, full-time and occasional sitters.
Primary Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, private childcare within family homes.
- Maintain clear, professional communication with families regarding scheduling and child development.
- Utilize the Karama mobile interface to manage matches, profile updates, and professional connections.
- Ensure a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment tailored to the specific needs of the household.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience: Proven track record in professional childcare (Nanny, Babysitter, or Early Childhood Educator).
- Tech-Savvy: Must be comfortable navigating a mobile-first marketplace and maintaining a digital profile.
- Compatibility-Focused: A desire to find long-term or short-term placements based on personality alignment and mutual fit.
- Location: Must be based in the New York City or Newark, NJ area.

Duties
- Provide attentive, loving care to children of various ages, including infants, toddlers, and school-aged kids.
- Engage children in age-appropriate activities that promote learning, creativity, and fun.
- Ensure the safety of children by following best practices in supervision and accident prevention.
- Assist with daily routines such as feeding, diapering, nap times, playtime, and educational activities.
- Communicate effectively with parents or guardians about their child's day and any important updates.
- Administer basic first aid when necessary and respond promptly to emergencies or health concerns.
- Support children with special needs or disabilities by adapting activities and providing tailored care when required.
Requirements
- Prior experience in nannying, babysitting, daycare work, or related childcare roles.
- Knowledge of child development principles and age-specific care techniques.
- Certification in first aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain upon hiring).
- Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs is a plus.
- Passion for working with children and creating positive, nurturing environments.
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities with energy, patience, and professionalism.
