National Account Manager- Paint

The National Account Manager will be responsible for growing top line sales, profit and market share for the Consumer Brands Group, National Account Business Unit. This position will also be responsible for the long-term strategic planning, development, and implementation of business plans for Paint including key brands Dutch Boy, Dutch Boy Pro and White Lightning for our retail customer, Menards. This role will entail expanding and developing new business opportunities for Consumer Brands and Menards.


This is a remote role. The candidate must live within the Menards markets with preferences for Eau Claire WI, or Minneapolis, MN. Eau Claire is the Preferred location of the candidate. The candidate must live within 60 miles of a major airport. The customer is located in the Central Standard time zone.


Job duties involve contact with customers, which may include minors; and access to cash and other payment methods, electronic equipment, personal information, store merchandise and other items of value, and such access may be supervised or unsupervised. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

  • Drives the vision and strategic sales growth of Paint categories including Dutch Boy, Dutch Boy Pro and White Lightning for Menards.
  • Maintains and builds a positive relationship with the Merchant Team and customer leadership for the Paint and Caulk categories.
  • Develops & capitalizes on relationships with Menards Merchant teams and leads key strategic negotiations.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of pricing/promotional programs to help drive sales for Consumer Brands and the customer, Menards.
  • Develops and implements strategies to grow and convert sales through competitive displacement.
  • Analyzes market research to develop product insights/programs; innovates new business opportunities.
  • Collaborates and builds impactful relationships with internal cross functional and divisional teams (Marketing, Operations, R&D, Quality, Sales Excellence, etc.) to identify, develop, and implement business strategies.
  • Responsible for completing proforma analysis, P&L analysis, budget management, operating plan support, presenting product line review presentations and customer relationship management, CRM, utilization.
  • Displays strategic decision-making by recommending, implementing, and executing promotional programs, and product lines while optimizing merchandising materials.
  • In partnership with the training team, assists with the development of training content for the key brands Dutch Boy, Dutch Boy Pro and White Lightning
  • Actively engaged with the National Accounts Business Unit Menards Field team to ensure they are in informed on all key projects and trends
  • Responsible for the selection, hiring, training, development, performance management, and corrective action for direct report(s).
  • Responsible for the overall financial responsibility for brands and categories assigned to direct report(s) and ensuring the strategy set by the business unit’s Sales Director and Vice President of Sales is fulfilled.
  • Respond to, or involves the appropriate parties, to resolve any customer and/or employee complaints
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures including safety and loss prevention.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED


Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university


KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment work visa status now or in the future
  • Must have a valid, unrestricted Driver’s License
  • Must be willing to work all scheduled hours, which may include evenings and weekends, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Willingness to travel as required for this position
  • Must have 2+ years of Business to Consumer and/or Business to Business sales experience either within a retail or consumer goods industry
  • Must have prior Account Manager experience


Preferred:

  • Have previous work experience selling paint and paint related products.
  • National Account experience, selling to buyers.
  • National Account Big Box experience (i.e. Menards, Lowe’s, The Home Depot, WalMart, etc.)
  • Previous experience with retail product line reviews – planning and delivery.
  • Demonstrated sales efforts requiring close work with cross-functional teams (e.g. marketing, finance, R&D, etc.)
  • Have experience building customer presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Have work experience using customer relationship management (“CRM”) systems
  • Prior work experience managing profit and loss ("P&L")
  • Prior work experience conducting training and/or developing training materials


TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

  • Must know how to use, edit, save, and share documents within Word
  • Must have experience using, editing, filtering, saving, sharing and inputting formulas into Microsoft Excel
  • Must be able to use, edit, save, and develop presentations in PowerPoint


Preferred:

  • Experience with Onbase
  • Have experience using formulas, pivot tables and graphs in Microsoft Excel
