The Role

The National Account Manager (NAM), Value Channel will be responsible for managing and growing Congo Brands’ business across key Value, Discount Specialty (TJ Maxx, etc.), Liquidation, and Alternative retail partners (e.g., Dollar General, Family Dollar, Dollar Tree, and others). This role will own the day-to-day customer relationship, business planning, and execution to deliver sales and profitability goals while expanding brand presence and category leadership within the channel.

The National Account Manager will ensure alignment and flawless execution of new item launches, promotions, and operational priorities, while also working closely with cross-functional teams including Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Commercial Strategy. This position reports to the Vice President, Small Format.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the customer relationship across assigned Value Channel accounts, serving as the primary point of contact for buyers and key stakeholders.
  • Execute annual and quarterly sales plans to achieve revenue, profit, and distribution goals.
  • Lead Joint Business Planning (JBP) discussions, ensuring alignment on strategy, product innovation, and promotional calendars.
  • Develop and execute account-specific promotional plans, optimizing trade spend and measuring ROI.
  • Analyze sales performance, category trends, and shopper insights to identify growth opportunities and strengthen Congo Brands’ position within the Value Channel.
  • Partner with internal teams to ensure timely and accurate execution of customer programs, including forecasting, logistics, pricing, and marketing support.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure smooth product launches, packaging transitions, and in-store merchandising excellence.
  • Monitor competitive activity, pricing trends, and category performance to provide recommendations on strategy adjustments.
  • Prepare and present business reviews, highlighting performance results, key initiatives, and growth opportunities.
  • Contribute to the broader Value Channel strategy, sharing customer insights and helping shape long-term plans for the channel.

Key Skills and Experience Required

  • 5+ years of experience in CPG sales or account management, with a focus on Value, Discount Specialty (TJ Maxx, etc.), Liquidation, or Alternative retail channels (e.g., Dollar General, Family Dollar, Dollar Tree).
  • Proven ability to deliver sales growth and build collaborative customer partnerships.
  • Strong understanding of Joint Business Planning, promotional planning, and category management.
  • Results-driven and detail-oriented, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to turn data into clear insights and actionable recommendations.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for growing brands in competitive retail environments.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to customer headquarters and field locations.

Education Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

Travel:

  • 20%
  • This position requires a clean driving record and authorization to obtain your Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) upon receiving and accepting a job offer.
  • Valid driver’s license required
