Responsibilities
- Safely operate specialized vehicles designed for transporting patients on stretchers, including shuttle buses, limousines, or paratransit vehicles.
- Assist patients with loading and unloading onto stretchers, providing compassionate support and ensuring secure positioning during transit.
- Maintain clear communication with healthcare providers, dispatchers, and patients to coordinate timely pickups and drop-offs.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and basic maintenance checks to ensure safety and compliance with all transportation regulations.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, safety protocols, and company policies to guarantee safe transport at all times.
- Handle heavy lifting when necessary to load or unload stretchers and assist patients safely into vehicles.
- Document all trips accurately in logs, including patient details, pickup/drop-off times, and any incidents or concerns.
Requirements
- Proven experience in shuttle driving, delivery driving, bus driving, or similar commercial driving roles such as limousine or school bus driving.
- Valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle type
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically with patients and team members.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently when assisting patients onto stretchers or into vehicles.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance basics to identify potential issues before they impact safety or service quality.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate effectively with dispatchers, healthcare staff, and patients.
- Prior experience in paratransit services or commercial driving is highly desirable.
