The Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, reliable network and telephony infrastructure that supports the credit union’s operations and member services. This role ensures optimal network performance, compliance with regulatory standards, and provides advanced technical expertise for escalated issues. Additionally, the Senior Network Engineer serves as a key technology resource for enterprise projects, collaborating with the Enterprise Project Management Office to deliver network requirements for new initiatives and system enhancements.
Network & Telephony
- Design, deploy, and maintain LAN, WLAN, WAN, VPN, and telephony systems.
- Configure and install network and voice hardware/software, including routers, switches, firewalls, servers, and VoIP platforms.
- Create and maintain accurate network and telephony topology diagrams and documentation.
- Monitor network and telephony performance and integrity using appropriate tools.
- Diagnose and resolve escalated network and voice-related issues
- Conduct on-site visits and remote troubleshooting as needed.
Security & Compliance
- Implement and maintain robust network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and encryption protocols.
- Ensure compliance with NCUA, FFIEC, GLBA and other regulatory requirements.
- Stay current on emerging security risks and recommend improvements.
Project & Collaboration
- Act as the primary liaison between the Technology team and the Enterprise
- Project Management Office for network and telephony-related initiatives.
- Provide technical expertise and requirements for new projects and system upgrades.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to ensure seamless implementation.
Support & Communication
- Deliver professional, timely support to internal teams and vendors for network and telephony issues.
- Keep management informed of key operating issues and risks.
- May work after hours or weekends as required for critical maintenance or emergencies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience, Education, and Skills
Required
- 3+ years of experience in network engineering or a related role.
- Advanced knowledge of network operating systems
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, switching, and network troubleshooting.
- Proficiency with Windows operating systems and Active Directory.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve network issues across WAN and remote locations.
- Experience installing, configuring, and supporting network hardware and software.
Preferred
- Relevant industry certifications such as Network+, CCNA, CCNP, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with scripting and workflow automation (PowerShell or similar).
- Experience with network security best practices and compliance frameworks (PCI DSS, GLBA, FFIEC, NCUA).
- Knowledge of telephony systems and cloud networking environments.
Pay Range:
- This position is a Tier 10, with a pay rate ranging from $31.54 to $47.31 per hour
- The anticipated pay rate for new hires is between the low-end and midpoint of the range, depending on experience
- The pay rates listed above are based upon the geographic location of our Administrative Offices in Modesto, CA using the greater Central Valley area for our pay range calculations
