Network & Systems Administrator

OVERVIEW:
The Network & Systems Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing IMAN’s IT network infrastructure across a multi-building campus. This role ensures that the health center’s digital systems—including WiFi, servers, switches, firewalls, access points, communication systems, and end-user devices—operate securely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.

The Network & Systems Administrator plays a critical role in public health emergency readiness by supporting continuity of clinical operations through resilient infrastructure, secure communications, reliable EHR access, and effective telehealth functionality. This position supports clinical, behavioral health, administrative, and outreach teams by monitoring network performance, troubleshooting issues, maintaining system documentation, and collaborating with external vendors (e.g., Insight, NTG, Athena).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES;
Network Infrastructure Management
  • Maintain and monitor network performance, including switches, routers, access points,and firewalls.
  • Oversee consolidation and optimization of SSIDs to create a seamless campus-wide network.
  • Implement and support fiber-optic internet upgrades and redundancy systems.
  • Perform routine network health checks, including speed tests, capacity analysis, and traffic monitoring.
System Configuration & Administration
  • Configure and maintain network security settings, VLANs, VPN access, and firewall rules.
  • Manage user accounts, access permissions, device provisioning, and deprovisioning.
  • Ensure proper configuration and security of door access systems, buzzers, cameras, and communications devices.
  • Partner with EMR vendor (Athena) for connectivity, device setup, and troubleshooting.
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
  • Serve as the first line of escalation for complex IT issues impacting clinical workflows.
  • Troubleshoot network outages, slowdowns, wireless failures, device malfunctions, and system errors.
  • Maintain logs of incidents, solutions, and recurring problems.
Vendor & Contract Coordination
  • Collaborate with Insight, NTG, and other IT vendors to ensure alignment with IMAN’s strategic goals.
  • Manage IT service tickets, monitor SLAs, and resolve gaps in vendor performance.
  • Participate in contract review and provide technical input for procurement decisions.
Asset Management & Documentation
  • Maintain inventory of all IT equipment using systems such as ClickUp and Asset Tiger.
  • Document wiring closets, network maps, IP assignments, hardware configurations, and lifecycle timelines.
  • Ensure proper labeling and organization of IT closets per industry standards.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
  • Implement and monitor cybersecurity protections (encryption tools, password protocols, MFA, phishing prevention).
  • Ensure secure data handling and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Coordinate backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans.
Support for Digital Health & Telehealth
  • Ensure reliable network connectivity for telehealth appointments and remote monitoring.
  • Support rollout and maintenance of digital intake systems (Phreesia), translation tools, and patient communication systems.
Training & Staff Capacity Building
  • Train staff on basic IT procedures, cybersecurity, and device use.
  • Create quick-reference guides for common workflows (WiFi, printers, telehealth setup, intake tablets)
  • Provide onboarding orientation for all new hires regarding technology systems.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in network administration, preferably within a healthcare or complex multi-site environment.
  • Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, hardware, software, and cloud-based platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, Microsoft 365).
  • Solid understanding of networking protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and VPNs.
  • Proficiency in help desk operations, technical troubleshooting, and end-user support processes.
  • Familiarity with compliance and security frameworks such as HIPAA, GDPR, or NIST.
  • Experience configuring and maintaining network equipment, including switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Experience working with cloud-based environments and systems (e.g., Google Workspace, EMR platforms such as Athena).
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively to non-technical staff.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Cisco, CompTIA Network+, or other networking certifications.
  • Experience with IT vendor management.
  • Experience optimizing network infrastructure in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or clinical environment.
  • Experience with VoIP platforms such as RingCentral.
  • Experience with asset management platforms (e.g., ClickUp, Asset Tiger).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds (e.g., moving monitors, printers, or networking equipment).
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and standard IT equipment for installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Flexibility to work outside of standard business hours, including evenings or weekends, to support events, urgent system issues, or technology deployments.
