Job Position Summary
We are seeking a reliable, experienced, and nurturing Newborn Care Specialist to provide attentive overnight and/or daytime care for newborn infants and support families during the postpartum period. The ideal candidate has professional infant care experience, strong knowledge of newborn development and safety, and excellent communication skills.
The Newborn Care Specialist will create a calm, safe, and supportive environment while assisting families with newborn routines, feeding support, sleep guidance, and overall infant care.
Responsibilities
- Provide attentive care for newborn infants
- Follow safe sleep practices and infant safety guidelines
- Assist with bottle feeding, breast milk handling, and feeding schedules
- Support healthy sleep routines and soothing techniques
- Change diapers, bathe, dress, and comfort infants
- Monitor infant behavior, feeding, sleep, and overall wellness
- Maintain accurate care logs and communicate updates with parents
- Sterilize bottles and organize baby-related supplies
- Light housekeeping related to the infant only (washing bottles, baby laundry, nursery organization)
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism with all families
- Respond calmly and appropriately during emergencies
Qualifications
- Previous professional newborn, infant, nanny, postpartum, NICU, or childcare experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of newborn care and development
- Infant/Child CPR and First Aid Certification required
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to work overnight, evenings, weekends, or flexible schedules
- Excellent communication and professionalism
- Must pass background check
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Newborn Care Specialist certification
- Postpartum doula certification
- Experience with premature infants, multiples, reflux, or sleep conditioning
- Lactation support knowledge
- Minimum 2+ years of newborn care experience
Schedule Options
- Overnight shifts (8–12 hours)
- Daytime newborn support
- Full-time, part-time, temporary, or contract positions available
Pay
- Competitive pay based on experience, certifications, and responsibilities
- Typical range: $25–$40+ per hour
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry infants and baby equipment
- Ability to stay awake and alert during overnight shifts
- Comfortable sitting, standing, and moving frequently throughout shifts
Work Environment
Services are provided in private family homes. Professionalism, discretion, and respect for family privacy are required at all times.
