Job Summary and Purpose


Lead the successful delivery of newly built vessels to operations, ensuring that all necessary preparations, documentation, and systems are in place before deployment.

Coordinate with various internal and external stakeholders, manage timelines, and facilitate the smooth handover of vessels from the construction phase to operational status.

Accountabilities


Key Accountabilities:

Development and Execution of New Build Master Readiness Plan:

  • Lead the creation and implementation of a comprehensive New Build master readiness plan for each new vessel prior to deployment.
  • Coordinate with Newbuild team, Nakilat Fleet Project Management Team, NSQL Technical, and Operations to ensure all readiness criteria are met.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Collaborate with Nakilat Fleet Project Management Team, Newbuild team, internal teams to align timelines and deliverables for vessel handover.
  • Ensure clear communication with Newbuild team and Nakilat Fleet Project Management Team to align project timelines.
  • Coordinate with the Charterers / QELM for the NFE vessels as required.

Operational excellence:

  • Lead the procurement and logistics for the delivery of the Owner's scope of supply items.
  • Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure the timely delivery of all required equipment and materials.
  • Track and monitor the status of all equipment deliveries and resolve any supply chain or logistical issues.
  • Ensure compliance with specifications for Owner scope items.
  • Coordinate the development and implementation of a comprehensive planned maintenance system (PMS) for all newbuild vessels.
  • Ensure that lessons learned and experience gained during the Newbuild process associated with this scope of ships delivering into the Fleet, are shared across Fleet departments.
  • Coordinate with Newbuild Project Management team in Korea, NSQL technical and various OEMs the development of Depot Spare Inventory and associated rationalization of the depot kits.
  • 13. Lead the procurement and the logistics of identified depot spare for safe and timely delivery to Nakilat depot in Ras Laffan.

Deployment of Ship Crews to Newbuild Shipyards:

  • Coordinate and collaborate with NSQL MPD in the deployment of ship crews to Newbuild shipyards.

Compliance Support:

  • Ensure shipboard procedures, maintenance practices, and spare gear inventory are consistent across all vessels in the same class.
  • Work closely with Nakilat Fleet Project Management Team and Newbuild team, Fleet Management and Legal departments to ensure the required delivery documentation is complete and accurate.

Guarantee Engineer Management and Claims Process:

  • Assist in the management of Guarantee Engineers during the initial delivery stage and oversee the subsequent guarantee claims process.
  • Track and resolve any guarantee-related issues or claims.

  • Adhere to all relevant QHSE policies, procedures, instructions and controls so that NAKILAT provides a safe, world class, secure and environmentally responsible service to customers, the public and its own people.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures:

  • Implement approved policies, processes and procedures, and provide instructions to subordinates to ensure their proper implementation.

Others:

  • Carry out any other duties as directed by the immediate supervisor.

Qualifications, Experience and Job Skills


Qualifications:

  • Marine Engineering degree (Class 1), preferably in motors and steam, or any other equivalent/relevant degree.
  • Sailed as chief engineer on board LNG/VLG Carriers.

Experience:

  • 8-12 years’ overall experience, with a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar capacity supervising LNG/LPG vessel, OR
  • Minimum 2 years' experience of managing large-scale repairs/maintenance activities on LPG/LNG vessels, OR
  • Minimum 2 years' experience as Chief Engineer on board LNG/LPG vessels.

Job Specific Skills:

  • Project management, budget construction and making, engineering trouble shooting, management, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments
  • Ability to conduct accident investigations, root cause analysis with recommendations and provide comprehensive reports
  • Knowledge of technical operations for Large Gas Carriers owned and managed
  • Knowledge of cargo containment system, cargo handling equipment and systems on board Large Gas Carriers owned and managed
  • Knowledge of propulsion plant on board Large Gas Carriers owned and managed
  • Up-to-date knowledge of international and local marine rules and regulations.
