We are seeking a talented copy editor who is a confident headline and summary writer, an expert on AP style and understands how to make the most of digital content.
This job is based in Chicago.
Position Description
- Proofread stories, text within videos, and social media content
- Craft compelling and searchable headlines and subheads that inform, encourage readers to click into story, and have a tone that reflects the NewsNation identity.
- Write headlines and captions on YouTube that inform and convince people to watch
- Utilize SEO best practices.
- Edit wire and local network-affiliated content for a national audience to ensure standards for journalistic integrity and production quality are met.
- Social media publishing
- Homepage management
- Clip broadcast segments for publishing across all digital platforms and social media channels.
Qualifications
- 3+ years working as a copy editor or similar role in a major newsroom
- Work in national newsrooms and, specifically, national televisions newsrooms is a plus
- Strong knowledge of search engine optimization
- Experience working with content management systems like WordPress
- Experience working with video inside Anvato, BitCentral, OBS or Latakoo a plus.
- Excellent communicator, both oral written
- Salary Range: $60,000 - $70,000 Annually
