Night Shift Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Pain Management

Location: Tampa General Hospital | Schedule: (4 nights on / 3 nights off)

Transitional Pain & Specialty Group (TPSG) is seeking a skilled and motivated Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA-C) to join our dynamic inpatient team at Tampa General Hospital. This position focuses on overnight rounding and consult coverage for patients requiring acute pain management. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative hospital environment, demonstrates strong clinical judgment, and is confident working independently during night hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform overnight rounding on inpatient pain consults
• Conduct thorough patient assessments, evaluations, and documentation
• Manage and adjust pain control regimens under physician guidance
• Respond to consult requests, follow-ups, and urgent pain-related concerns overnight
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the EMR
• Provide detailed hand-off communication to the day team
• Manage 20–30 patients per shift efficiently
• Order and interpret diagnostic tests as appropriate
• Prescribe and manage pain medications (controlled and non-controlled substances) after training completion
• Coordinate patient care with families and hospital staff
• Participate in quality and performance improvement initiatives to support clinical excellence
• Ensure adherence to all regulatory and compliance standards

Qualifications

• Active and unrestricted Florida APRN or PA-C license
• DEA license with prescriptive authority (or eligibility)
• Minimum 1 year of inpatient experience (Pain Management, Internal Medicine, Hospitalist, or related field preferred)
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, and documentation skills
• Ability to work independently and manage acute cases overnight
