The NIL Merchandise Intern will play a key role in supporting the Campus Store’s Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) program. This position focuses on athlete trend analysis, product strategy, and collaboration with Athletics to ensure the store offers the right NIL merchandise for fans. The intern will also assist with marketing campaigns, events, and data analysis to maximize NIL program success.

Responsibilities
Athlete & Trend Analysis
  • Monitor University of Utah NCAA sports teams (Football, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Gymnastics, Baseball, and Softball).
  • Identify trending athletes and forecast up-and-coming players for NIL opportunities.
  • Track social media buzz and fan engagement to inform merchandise decisions.
Collaboration & Compliance
  • Work closely with Athletics to coordinate NIL merchandise launches.
  • Ensure compliance with NCAA and University NIL guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of NIL agreements.
Product Strategy & Buying Support
  • Partner with the Apparel Buyer to maintain an optimal NIL product mix.
  • Assist in sourcing and recommending NIL apparel and gear based on athlete popularity and fan demand.
  • Communicate with vendors to ensure timely delivery of NIL merchandise.
Marketing Campaign Development
  • Work directly with the Sr. Marketing Manager to help create marketing campaigns for NIL merchandise.
  • Assist in planning NIL product launches and athlete meet-and-greet events.
  • Support promotional strategies that drive fan engagement and sales.
Data & Sales Analysis
  • Track NIL merchandise sales performance and report trends.
  • Provide insights on which athletes/products are driving revenue.
  • Research competitor NIL strategies and industry best practices.
Customer Engagement
  • Gather feedback from fans and customers on NIL merchandise preferences.
  • Suggest improvements based on customer insights.

Minimum Qualifications
Must be a current University of Utah student.

Preferences
  • Currently enrolled in a college program (Business, Marketing, Sports Management, or related field preferred).
  • Strong interest in collegiate athletics and NIL regulations.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with social media marketing and retail merchandising is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools preferred.
