Perform various NDA measurements throughout the Y-12 Complex. These measurements include qualitative and quantitative NDA measurements. Perform inventory verification/confirmation measurements, Non-Special Nuclear Material measurements/inspections, and other measurements for anomaly resolution. Also performs data analysis and interpretation for NDA measurements with sodium iodide detectors, lanthanum bromide detectors, and high purity germanium detectors.
Perform instrument calibration, validation, and measurement control activities. Works under limited supervision to ensure calibration and functionality of advanced Non-Destructive Assay systems.
Makes independent decisions in the field regarding the disposition of Nuclear Material exiting the Material Access Areas.
Reviews procedures, work instructions, and job performance aids for various production areas and organizations in the Y-12 Complex to ensure compliance with NMC&A requirements. Assist in developing plans for receipt verification and accountability measurements. Participate in resolving shipper/receiver issues, as needed. Immediate decisions on behalf of NMC&A pertaining to measurement results or nuclear material safeguards may be required to ensure protection of Y-12 assets.
This position is a technical support position which requires considerable time in various nuclear production areas within the Y-12 Complex.
