NO 2 Auto Machine Mechanic

OVERVIEW

The No. 2 Auto Machine Mechanic is responsible for operating high speed packaging equipment and assisting the No. 1 Auto Machine Mechanic (AMM) with maintenance in an industrial food facility, which consists of routine maintenance, infield adjustments and complete breakdowns of equipment.


DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operate high speed packing equipment.
  • Perform minor repairs to all type of packaging equipment from instruction books, sketches and other specifications.
  • Perform all jobs in accordance with established safety, quality, and sanitation practices.
  • Adjust automatic packaging equipment such as bag tray, bag clamps, scales and palletizers.
  • Inspect package closures and makes necessary corrective adjustments as needed.
  • Proper performance of assigned duties, observance of safety standards, good housekeeping requirements for the proper care of tools, materials and equipment.
  • All other duties as assigned.


WORK EXPERIENCES

  • Must have at least two (2) or more years of maintenance/mechanical experience on industrial equipment, preferably packaging, OR two (2) or more years of related maintenance/mechanical experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
  • Demonstrated experience using handtools and shop equipment.
  • Demonstrated experience troubleshooting minor equipment issues/failure.


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred


ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES

  • Demonstrated ability to identify, adjust, repair, and replace components in mechanical equipment.
  • Perform repairs, inspections, and functional testing on mechanical packaging equipment.
  • Ability to safely lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent use of hands and arms to reach, push, pull, lift, carry, and manipulate tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to walk, stand, kneel, crouch, stoop, crawl, and climb throughout the shift.
  • Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, rotating, pushing, and pulling.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights, including climbing ladders.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to perform all job duties while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), including protective footwear, clothing, and safety glasses or goggles.
  • Must regard safety as a core value; must be able to work safe and in a proficient manner.
  • This position requires the flexibility to work various shifts, including Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and overtime, as needed. Weekend shifts may be mandated based on business needs.
