We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented professional to manage No Fault and Liens Collections within our healthcare billing department. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of New York State No-Fault insurance and Lien Negotiation Settlement. This role requires strong communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and proficiency in handling complex medical collections to ensure timely resolution of outstanding balances. The successful applicant will play a vital role in optimizing revenue recovery while maintaining compliance with industry regulations.
The Medical Liens Settlement Collector manages and collects outstanding medical liens associated with personal injury and other legal claims. This position works closely with attorneys, insurance adjusters, healthcare providers, and patients to verify settlement status, negotiate lien reductions when appropriate, and ensure timely payment of outstanding balances.
Duties and Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage a portfolio of medical lien accounts.
- Contact law firms, insurance carriers, and patients to determine claim and settlement status.
- Review legal and medical documentation related to liens and settlements.
- Verify settlement proceeds and calculate lien balances owed.
- Negotiate lien resolutions and payment arrangements within company guidelines.
- Prepare and send lien notices, demand letters, and settlement correspondence.
- Document all collection activities and communications in the account management system.
- Follow up on pending settlements to secure payment.
- Research and resolve disputes regarding lien amounts or claim information.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and company regulations.
- Generate reports on collection performance and account status.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical collection processes, particularly with no-fault insurance claims and lien management.
- Strong knowledge of personal injury medical collections and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with medical office operations, medical records management, and billing procedures.
- Proficiency in EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems for data tracking and documentation.
- Excellent communication skills for effective negotiation with insurance companies and legal entities.
- Attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple accounts simultaneously.

Experience
- 1–3 years of collections, medical billing, revenue cycle, personal injury, subrogation, or legal support experience preferred.
- Experience working with medical liens, personal injury claims, or settlement disbursements is highly desirable.
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of medical billing and collection processes.
- Familiarity with personal injury claims and settlement procedures.
- Knowledge of lien types, including healthcare provider liens and statutory liens.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and collections or case-management software.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Pay: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
