Non-CDL Truck Driver
Metals USA - Gregor Technologies Division is seeking a Non-CDL Truck Driver in Torrington, CT. Metals USA is a solid, growth-oriented aluminum/stainless steel distribution center servicing the defense, aerospace, and fabrication industries.
The Non-CDL Truck Driver completes assigned deliveries and pick-up of merchandise and assists with shipping and receiving responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
- Drives a van and/or box truck to transport and deliver materials
- Maneuvers truck into loading and unloading positions.
- Operates company vehicle in a professional, safe and courteous manner.
- Routinely inspects and maintains vehicle daily, complete driver's logs and reports in compliance with FMCSR daily.
- Picks up and accurately delivers merchandise and corresponding paperwork in a timely manner.
- Keeps a clean and well maintained delivery vehicle, internal and external.
- Ensures customer messages/communications are relayed to appropriate management.
- Secures loaded cargo into truck; safely load & unload materials using a winch, hoist and/or forklift.
- Delivers paperwork and communications between Gregor Technologies, customers and vendors.
- Assists with stocking the shipping and receiving department to include lifting and carrying cartons and placing them on appropriate shelves.
- Maintains work areas in a clean, orderly and safe manner to include returning tools to designated areas.
- Notifies management of product discrepancies or malfunctions, and or personal injuries.
- Adheres to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.
- Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a truck driver.
- Adheres to Reliance Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements.
- Wears personal protective equipment in accordance with training guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Certifications/Licenses:
Valid driver's license
- - in good standing with the State and Federal Regulatory Agencies.
- Valid OSHA Forklift Certification
Physical Demands:
Occupation requires physical activity more than 66% of the time (> 5.5 hours per day)
- Stand, walk, sit, handling/fingering, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bend
Lift, carry, push and/or pull 51 - - 100 lbs. with assistance
Other Physical Requirements:
Must wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Steel-toed boots
- Hard hats with chin straps; chin straps must be worn at all time in the warehouse and customer warehouse
- Protective eyewear
- Hand protection
- Arm guards/sleeves
- Hearing protection if required by the hearing conservation program
Work Environment:
May be exposed to some of the following working conditions.
- Drive an enclosed truck on a daily basis
- Work outdoors while loading and unloading
- Work indoors while driving or filling out paperwork
- Exposure to different elements, ranging from very hot to very cold temperatures, rain and snow
- Exposure to contaminants, such as diesel fuel or exhaust fumes
- Noise
- Full body vibration when driving a truck
- Oils, dust, fumes and metallic particles
- Exposed to bright or dim lighting conditions, day or night
- High School Graduate or Equivalent
- Ability to comprehend oral/written/communication
- Must be organized with attention to detail
- Should possess Mechanical Skills
- Computer Literacy to include GPS
- Represents the organization with professionalism and diplomacy, and maintains the highest level of customer confidentiality
- Must have a Clean Driving Record and remain in compliance with DOT requirements
- Must always demonstrate the highest level of Customer Service/Relations
