Non-Emergency Medical Transport (NEMT) Driver

Join our dedicated team as a Non-Emergency Medical Transport (NEMT) Driver, where you will play a vital role in providing safe, reliable, and compassionate transportation services for individuals requiring medical appointments, therapy sessions, and other non-emergency health-related travel. Responsibilities

  • Safely operate vehicles including wheelchair converted mini vans to transport passengers to scheduled appointments or destinations.
  • Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, ensuring proper safety protocols are followed at all times.
  • Ensure all passengers and wheelchairs are properly secured according to safety protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness and perform routine pre- and post- trip maintenance checks on vehicles to ensure optimal safety and performance.
  • Communicate effectively with passengers, dispatchers, and healthcare providers to coordinate schedules and address any special needs or concerns.
  • Follow all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies during every trip.
  • Handle heavy lifting when assisting passengers with mobility devices or luggage, ensuring comfort and safety.
  • Keep accurate records of trips, mileage, fuel usage, and vehicle maintenance logs.

Experience

  • Prior shuttle driving or delivery driver experience is highly preferred, especially within healthcare or community transportation settings.
  • Proven experience operating buses, limousines, Uber, Lyft, EMT, commercial vehicles (CDL) such as trucks or school buses preferred, but not required.
  • Strong communication skills, empathy, compassion and patience to interact professionally with diverse passengers and vulnerable populations and team members.
  • Knowledge of local traffic laws and safety regulations related to commercial driving.
  • Experience with vehicle maintenance routines and basic troubleshooting is a plus.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently when assisting passengers or handling equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle type being operated; commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred but not mandatory depending on vehicle requirements. Qualifications:

  • License: Valid Virginia driver’s license.
  • Driving Record: Clean driving record (no major violations in the past 5 years).
  • Age: Must be at least 25 years old.
  • Background: Must pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Experience: NEMT / CDL / EMT / Uber & Lyft experience preferred but not required.
  • Physical Ability: Capable lifting, pushing, and pulling (assisting clients).
