Non-Invasive Cardiology Tech

Position Summary:

Performs a variety of cardiovascular procedures. The certified cardiovascular technologist will be expected to function independently and demonstrate sound judgement based up on knowledge and application of professional, departmental and organizational principals and standards. Duties are performed under the supervision of the Director of Cardiology Service Line and/or Management Team of the Non-Invasive Cardiology and with medical direction from physicians.

Job Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of tests, such as Holter Monitor hook-up, ECG’s, stress testing and other procedures according to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Accurately performs testing according to the written procedures and in accordance with the technical performance standards for each department, thereby avoiding technical errors.
  • Completes job duties in accordance with productivity and processing quality standards as defined by department management.
  • Provides patient/families with education related to procedure and discharge instruction.
  • Promotes team effort in completing patient care, which may include but is not limited to transporting patients, picking up medications or supplies.
  • Performs related clerical and service duties, such as typing, charting, filing and pulling historical tests from patient’s medical record, etc.
  • Enters results of testing on worksheets, logbooks, requisitions and computer system accurately and completely.
  • Verifies physician’s orders.
  • Confirms physician’s dictation and transcribes properly.
  • Demonstrates competence in order entry, verifications and retrieval.
  • Assists in the resolution of IECG work que errors.
  • May be assigned other duties as needed.
  • May require assignments in multiple locations

Education/Experience

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Certification from an approved Electrocardiogram Technician Program, or must be completed within 1 year of hire.
  • Current credentials as a certified Cardiographic Technician (CCT), or Certified Electrocardiogram Technician

(CET) or must obtain CCT/CET certification within 1 year of hire date).

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in cardiac stress testing, application of cardiac monitors, and 12 lead electrocardiograms preferred, or must complete intradepartmental training within 6 months of hire date.
  • Typing and computer skills in data entry
  • Current BLS certification.
