Non licensed dental assistant

The Non-Licensed Dental Assistant supports dentists and licensed dental staff in providing safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. This role focuses on preparing treatment areas, assisting during procedures, managing instruments, and ensuring a clean and organized clinical environment. While clinical duties are limited to non-invasive, non-diagnostic tasks, the dental assistant plays a key role in maintaining smooth patient flow and a positive experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet and prepare patients for dental procedures.
• Set up and break down dental treatment rooms before and after appointments.
• Pass instruments and materials to the dentist during procedures.
• Maintain infection control protocols, including sterilizing and organizing instruments.
• Manage dental supplies and ensure operatories are stocked.
• Take and record vital signs (if trained and allowed by local regulations).
• Provide patient comfort measures such as protective bibs, eyewear, and suctioning during procedures.
• Perform basic laboratory tasks such as pouring and trimming models.
• Handle patient records, appointment scheduling, and administrative tasks as needed.
• Provide post-treatment instructions as directed by the dentist.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and clinic policies.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• On-the-job training or completion of a dental assisting program preferred (not always required).
• Knowledge of basic dental terminology, instruments, and procedures.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Compassionate and professional patient care attitude.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
• Manual dexterity to handle small instruments.
