The Non-Licensed Dental Assistant / Receptionist plays a dual role in supporting the daily operations of the dental clinic. This position is responsible for assisting dentists with basic chairside duties (that do not require licensure) and managing front-desk responsibilities to ensure smooth patient flow and excellent customer service.
ey ResponsibilitiesClinical Support (Non-Licensed Duties)
- Prepare treatment rooms before and after procedures.
- Assist the dentist with basic, non-invasive tasks (e.g., passing instruments, preparing materials).
- Sterilize, disinfect, and organize dental instruments and equipment.
- Ensure infection control standards are followed according to clinic protocols.
- Prepare trays, materials, and simple setups for procedures.
- Escort patients to treatment rooms and ensure their comfort.
- Take and record patient vital signs if trained (not involving clinical diagnostics).
- Maintain inventory of supplies and report shortages.
Front Desk / Receptionist Duties
- Greet patients warmly and manage check-in and check-out processes.
- Schedule and confirm appointments efficiently.
- Answer phone calls and respond to inquiries professionally.
- Manage patient files, update electronic records, and ensure accurate data entry.
- Process payments, issue receipts, and handle insurance documentation.
- Coordinate with dental staff to maintain smooth patient flow.
- Handle patient reminders, recalls, and follow-up communication.
