Personnel assigned fire safety response duties must be able to safely perform the following tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation:
Emergency Operations:

Rapidly respond to emergency incidents

Perform fire suppression activities

Conduct basic rescue and extrication support operations

Assist with patient assessment and movement

Operate emergency response equipment
-
Enter and exit response vehicles quickly and safely
Equipment Handling:

Lift, carry, push, or pull equipment weighing 50–75 pounds
-
Move or drag an adult patient weighing up to 220 pounds with assistance
-
Advance charged hose lines and deploy fire extinguishers
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE):
-
On and off required personal protective equipment (PPE) in a timely manner
-
Operate while wearing required firefighting PPE
-
Operate in environments with restricted visibility and mobility
Physical Activity:

Perform sustained physical activity for 10–20 minutes or more
-
Bend, kneel, crawl, stoop, twist, reach, and work in confined or awkward positions

Climb grades up to 25 degrees
Cognitive Demands:

Follow verbal and written instructions

Communicate effectively in high-noise environments

Make time-sensitive safety decisions
