Description
Hamdan Bin Mohammed Smart University (HBMSU), located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) the first accredited smart learning university in the region invites applications from qualified educators passionate about sustainability, environmental innovation, and digital education. Successful candidates will join a learner-centric university committed to excellence in smart, flexible, and future-oriented higher education.

Faculty are expected to act as mentors, coaches, facilitators, and role models, guiding undergraduate learners through the Sustainability and Circular Economy course delivered fully online. The role focuses on developing learners’ understanding of sustainable development principles, responsible consumption, and circular economic models, linking theory to real-world practices that align with the UAE Vision 2031 and global sustainability goals (SDGs). Faculty members will encourage systems thinking, innovation, and ethical responsibility through interactive learning experiences that emphasize sustainability as a mindset and lifestyle.

Non-resident faculty appointments are full-time remote positions that allow candidates to facilitate learning, mentor learners, and contribute to academic service while residing outside the UAE. Faculty will fully participate in HBMSU’s smart learning ecosystem, collaborating virtually with colleagues, engaging in continuous professional development, and contributing to the School of e-Education’s mission of preparing sustainability-conscious and innovation-driven global citizens.

As integral members of HBMSU’s academic community, non-resident faculty support the University’s mission to transform education through smart technologies, learner-centered pedagogy, and sustainability-driven innovation. They are encouraged to engage virtually in university events, sustainability forums, and professional development activities, fostering collaboration and community within HBMSU’s vibrant global network. Applicants must demonstrate expertise in sustainability education, environmental management, or circular economy practices, along with familiarity with smart learning methodologies and online facilitation. A strong commitment to HBMSU’s vision of shaping future leaders for a sustainable and resilient world is essential.
Main roles & responsibilities

Mentorship and Coaching:
Guide and mentor learners in developing mathematical confidence and critical thinking skills. Provide personalized feedback, motivation, and academic support to help learners apply mathematics to real-world problems.

Learning Design and Assessment Facilitation:
Contribute to the enhancement of instructional materials, learning activities, and assessment tools for the General Mathematics course, ensuring they promote conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and quantitative reasoning within HBMSU’s smart learning environment.

Research and Scholarship:
Engage in applied and pedagogical research in mathematics education, digital learning, and smart pedagogy. Contribute to publications and initiatives that align with the mission of the School of e-Education.

Role Modeling:
Exemplify intellectual curiosity, ethical professionalism, and commitment to inclusive and adaptive mathematics education by inspiring learners through value-driven engagement.

Learning Support:
Monitor learner progress through the online platform, provide individualized guidance, and encourage continuous participation and mastery of mathematical concepts.

Collaboration:
Work closely with the School of e-Education team to ensure high-quality learning experiences aligned with HBMSU’s academic standards and learner outcomes.

Professional Engagement:
Participate virtually in faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and continuous improvement activities to enhance online mathematics education and pedagogy.

Required qualification & skills

Job Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related discipline from an accredited university.
  • Demonstrated experience in online learning, mentoring, or learner facilitation in mathematics or quantitative literacy courses.
  • Strong understanding of digital tools for mathematics learning, including visualization, simulation, and assessment technologies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and English communication skills, with proven ability to engage learners in self-paced, asynchronous environments.
  • Familiarity with smart learning platforms, adaptive assessment systems, and data-driven feedback tools.
