The State of New Hampshire, NH Fish and Game Department has a part-time vacancy for biological assistant.


Summary:


Assists the Nongame & Endangered Wildlife Program in implementing a variety of field projects for threatened, endangered, and other nongame wildlife at various locations throughout NH.


YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience: 10th grade education

License/Certification: Valid Driver’s License

Other Requirements: Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) must meet the minimum standards established by the agency.

Trainee Option: Not applicable

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Biology — Knowledge of plant and animal organisms, and interactions with each other and the environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

DETAILED TASKS (AGENCY/POSITION-SPECIFIC):

Assists with monitoring various nongame wildlife using standardized protocols including the use of radio telemetry. Wildlife monitoring efforts may include but not be limited to reptiles, amphibians, mammals including bats, birds, and various aquatic and terrestrial invertebrates.

Shadows on tasks including monitoring and measuring of habitat features used by nongame wildlife in New Hampshire.

Assists biologists in capturing, measuring, marking and releasing nongame wildlife species.

Collects and maintains data based on daily priorities assigned by senior biologist team members.

Assists with habitat management or restoration efforts.

Maintains equipment associated with these projects.

Assists with other projects as assigned.
