The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill three 80% Nurse Clinician 3 positions. These positions are based out of Oshkosh Correctional Institution in Oshkosh, WI (Winnebago County).
The Nurse Clinician 3 (NC3) is responsible for providing advanced skilled nursing care to incarcerated adults in the state correctional facilities in ambulatory, infirmary, long term care, and palliative care settings.
This position works in a Long-Term Care (LTC) / Palliative Care (PC) Unit at Oshkosh Correctional Institution (OSCI) and provides independent management of direct cares to patients residing on this unit who have unique complex health conditions which are long-term and/or terminal which prevent them from residing in the General Population.
The incumbent will provide direct and on-going care, and advanced assessments, to these residents and will provide extensive and complex cares related to activities of daily living (ADL), emotional/psychological support, medication management for pain, etc.
Advanced job responsibilities include: patient assessment and treatment, assisting the physician in providing medical services, developing and monitoring of treatment plans, coordinating treatment plans with treatment team, management of medications, provision of emergency care, and maintenance of medical records. In addition to providing direct patient care responsibilities, this position will assist with unit planning to structure staff and resources to meet the needs of the assigned patients or patient population.
Also, the Nurse Clinician 3 is expected to develop and/or participate in educational programs for staff and patients about patient ADL’s and chronic disease management, along with evaluating quality assurance of standards of care on the LTC and PC Unit. The incumbent will serve as a consultant to uniformed and non-uniformed staff about the residents of the LTC and PC Unit.
This position is in pay schedule and range 11-01 with a starting pay of $46.11/hour - $56.10/hour. The rate offered within this range will relate to years of licensure/credentialing as a registered nurse. Pay will be set in accordance with the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code in effect at the time of hire. A probationary period is required.

This position is not eligible for remote work and will work on site.
This position is FLSA Exempt.
This position normally works 8-hour shifts , 4 days a week, and the vacancies include shifts of 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, and 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM. All positions are scheduled to work every other weekend and there will be a rotation for holidays.
Healthcare employees in this classification must have the ability to work up to 16 hours per day and more than 40 hours per week on any shift based on daily operational needs. This may include weekends, holidays, and on-call hours.
This position has physical requirements related to performing the job duties that involve being able to stand, sit, and move freely. This role will reposition patients, manipulate fine objects, and lift freely up to 40 lbs. to perform necessary tasks, and may need to occasionally climb stairs. This position is not anticipated to travel on a regular basis, but most DOC positions occasionally travel for training, meetings, conferences, or similar events.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must possess and maintain an active unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin or another state participating in the Nurse Licensure Compact at the time of application. Temporary licenses are not permitted.
Employees must maintain certification in BLS by the American Heart Association and training in the use of the AED and have the ability to perform BLS and/or first aid to prevent loss of life and relieve suffering until appropriate care arrives.
