Responsibilities of a Nurse (DOH) in LASER Procedures

If a nurse is involved in laser treatments or works in a DOH facility using LASER technology, their responsibilities might include:

1. Pre-Procedure Responsibilities

  • Patient assessment: Evaluate the patient’s medical history and skin condition.
  • Informed consent: Ensure patients understand the procedure, risks, and post-care instructions.
  • Preparation of equipment: Check and calibrate laser machines; ensure safety protocols are in place.
  • Safety checks: Confirm all protective gear (e.g. goggles for both patient and staff) is ready.

2. During the Procedure

  • Assisting the physician or laser technician: Hand instruments, monitor patient condition.
  • Monitoring patient reactions: Look out for signs of distress, pain, or complications.
  • Maintaining sterile field: Prevent infection and contamination.

3. Post-Procedure Responsibilities
