Nurse Navigator (RN) for Outpatient Diagnostic Imaging

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care in an outpatient diagnostic imaging environment. This role requires a compassionate Registered Nurse, capable of starting IVs, administering medication, supervising and treating contrast reactions, overseeing cardiac CT and other imaging exams, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. The Registered Nurse will play a vital role in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centered care while collaborating with Technologists to provide prep instructions, room patients, and optimize imaging center workflow.

This is a part-time position, with initial need of two to three 8-hour shifts weekly, split between Fremont and San Jose. There is opportunity for additional shifts if willing to travel to other sites in the Bay Area and/or as the cardiac CT program in Fremont grows.

Duties

  • Conduct patient assessments before and after administering medications
  • Supervise and treat adverse reactions to IV contrast and other medications under the remote supervision of a radiologist
  • Start IVs and administer medications and contrast, following proper protocols and safety standard
  • Document patient information accurately using RIS/PACS systems and maintain detailed medical records
  • Monitor patient progress and respond promptly to changes in condition
  • Assist with procedures and support Technologists
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
  • Educate patients regarding medication administration, and post-discharge care instructions
  • Collaborate with Radiologists, Technologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver excellent patient care
  • Maintain proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and physiology to support accurate patient assessment and documentation
  • Adhere to infection control protocols and safety procedures in all clinical activities

Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in good standing with relevant state licensing boards
  • Proven experience in hospital medicine, outpatient facilities, or specialized in Radiology
  • Demonstrated expertise in medical nursing, urgent care, or outpatient clinics
  • Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for documentation and patient record management
  • Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, and medical terminology
  • Skilled in IV insertion, venipuncture, medication administration, and injection techniques. Specifically Beta Blocker for CCTA scan.
  • Ability to perform patient assessment accurately and efficiently under pressure in fast-paced environments
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications such as ACLS preferred
  • Excellent communication skills for delivering quality patient care
  • Commitment to maintaining HIPAA compliance and safeguarding patient privacy

Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour
