Nurse - Neuro Surgery ICU

Key Responsibilities & Job Description

• Neurological Monitoring: Perform frequent, specialized assessments, including Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) checks, pupillary response tests, and neurological checks every 15 minutes to two hours.
• Critical Care Management: Monitor and maintain patients on mechanical ventilators, Manage intracranial pressure (ICP) monitors, and care for external ventricular drains (EVD).
• Post-Operative Care: Provide specialized care to patients recovering from craniotomies, spinal surgeries, and other neurosurgical procedures.
• Procedures: Administer intravenous infusions (IV/IM/SC), manage vasopressors and sedatives, and assist physicians with bedside procedures like lumbar punctures or EVD insertions.
• Emergency Response: Rapidly identify and intervene in cases of sudden neurological deterioration, such as seizures, acute stroke, or increased intracranial pressure.
• Documentation & Communication: Maintain precise, real-time records of patient conditions in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and report critical changes to neurosurgeons or intensivists.
• Family Support: Educate families on complex neurological conditions and provide emotional support during critical situations.

Qualifications & Requirements in Kerala

• Education: BSc Nursing or GNM (General Nursing and Midwifery).
• Certification: Registration with the Kerala Nursing & Midwives Council is mandatory.
• Experience: A minimum of 1–3 years of experience is generally required, with specific experience in a Neurology/Neurosurgery ICU preferred.
• Skills: Strong clinical judgment, ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, and proficiency in using ICU equipment (ventilators, infusion pumps).

Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹30,000.00 per month
