Nurse Practitioner

Duties

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and medical history reviews to establish accurate diagnoses.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, incorporating medication administration, injections, IV infusions, and wound suturing when necessary.
  • Manage acute and chronic conditions across various specialties such as emergency medicine, geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health, and internal medicine.
  • Perform specialized procedures including dermal fillers, botulinum toxin treatments, spinal taps, catheterizations, and sonography.
  • Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, and Athenahealth to document patient encounters accurately and efficiently.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for discharge planning, case management, and utilization review to ensure seamless patient care transitions.
  • Engage in telehealth consultations to extend care access remotely while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Skills

  • Proven experience with Epic EMR systems and other EHR platforms such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for efficient documentation.
  • Strong background in acute care settings including ICU, Level I/II trauma centers, hospital medicine, emergency rooms, and surgical units.
  • Expertise in specialized procedures like suturing, phlebotomy, catheter care, gastric lavage, spinal taps, and ventilator management.
  • Knowledge of pharmacology related to psychopharmacology, pain management strategies, and medication administration protocols.
  • Familiarity with ICD-9/10 coding standards (including CPT coding) for accurate medical documentation and billing processes.
  • Experience working with diverse populations including pediatric patients (neonatal ventilators), elderly residents in assisted living or nursing homes, and individuals with developmental disabilities or dementia care needs.
  • Ability to perform diagnostic evaluations using laboratory testing and medical imaging techniques such as sonography or medical imaging tools.
  • Skilled in infection control practices and aseptic techniques to ensure patient safety during procedures.
  • Competence in triage protocols for urgent care environments or emergency room situations requiring immediate decision-making.
  • Strong understanding of Workers' Compensation law and outpatient/outpatient clinic operations for comprehensive case management.
