Job Description

The Cedars-Sinai Neuroscience Critical Care Unit (Neuro-ICU) is a specialized, 24-bed facility within the Saperstein building. Our team treats critically ill neurological patients with conditions such as stroke, brain injury, seizures, and hemorrhage.

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Nurse Practitioner to join our Neuro ICU team at Cedars-Sinai. As a teaching hospital, we are committed to education and collaboration, working closely with residents and fellows to provide a comprehensive learning environment. The Cedars-Sinai Neuroscience Critical Care Unit (Neuro-ICU) is a specialized, 24-bed facility within the Saperstein building, treating critically ill neurological patients with conditions like stroke, brain injury, seizures, and hemorrhage. Utilizing advanced monitoring and a multidisciplinary team, including neurointensivists, NPs, pharmacists, residents, and fellows, we are a leading Level 1 Trauma & Comprehensive Stroke Center.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clinical Management: Provide comprehensive care to Neuro ICU patients, managing their critical care needs through the healthcare continuum, including preventative, acute, discharge, and ambulatory care.
  • Nursing Process: Responsible for the application and supervision of the nursing process, including clinical practice, research involvement, consultative services, and patient care management.
  • Collaboration and Leadership: Incorporate independent decision-making and collaboration with physicians to deliver expert care. Provide leadership in patient management across the healthcare continuum.
  • Patient Care: Provide individualized care in line with CSHS philosophies, Nursing Standards of Care, and departmental policies. Deliver care sensitive to age, developmental milestones, and cultural diversity.
  • Diagnostic and Therapeutic Procedures: Perform appropriate procedures such as venipuncture, arterial puncture, lumbar puncture, and more, following standardized protocols. Document results and follow-up as necessary.
  • Education and Mentorship: Provide patient and family education, support staff in clinical practices, and mentor graduate Nursing students. Participate in and lead committee work, influencing clinical policy and practice standards.
  • Program Development: Develop and supervise programs aligning with patient needs and organizational goals. Analyze and implement new skills, technologies, and equipment for clinical efficacy and safety.
  • Clinical Judgment: Educate and mentor staff on clinical judgment to promote positive patient outcomes. Address ethical dilemmas in clinical practice, providing direction and support to nursing staff.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Master of Nursing Degree.
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse practitioner program approved by the California Board of Registered.

Experience:

  • One (1) plus years’ experience as Nurse Practitioner managing Neuro ICU patients highly preferred.

Licensure/Certifications Requirements:

  • Current CA RN License.
  • Nurse Practitioner and Furnishing License.
  • National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current DEA License (schedule 2-5)

We offer a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base pay range shown generally applies to the greater Los Angeles area and may vary based on work location. Our range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including knowledge/skills: relevant experience and training, education/certifications/licensure; and other business and organizational factors.
