The ARNP provides specialty patient care for adults in an outpatient office setting under direct or general, supervision of a physician. Provides a comprehensive health assessment and evaluation by obtaining the patient medical, social and family history, drug allergies, current medications and vital signs. Establishes diagnoses and is responsible under the physician' supervision for the management of the patent's problems following diagnosis. Initiates appropriate diagnostic testing and special examinations required for the evaluation of illness or chronic conditions and prepares a written summary of care. Communicates to the patient results of ordered tests and initiates treatment plans. Reviews patient records and educates patient and family members regarding visit, examination, treatment and medications, including potential side effects, procedures ordered and testing. Prescribes and/or adjust prescription medications, in accordance with education and management protocols. Assists in the training of health care personnel in certain diagnostic, therapeutic, and clinical techniques, as directed by the supervising physician.
