Compensation:

  • Base Pay Range: $39.90 - $58.86 per hour, based on experience
  • Shift Differentials: Additional $8.00 per hour for weekend shift

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION
Assigns, supervises, guides, and instructs staff in delivering high-quality services, ensuring accurate documentation and participation in patient care conferences aligned with staff education and clinical competence.
Assists the manager in maintaining standards of care using the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice and the Code of Ethics for Nurses as the foundation for nursing practice and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements from state and federal agencies.
Assists the manager in monitoring departmental expenditures and maintaining operational costs within budget by utilizing human and material resources cost-effectively.
Assists the manager with interviewing and recommending the hiring of qualified candidates. Ensures proper orientation of new staff, evaluates performance, and regularly assesses staff competency through direct observation, peer review, standardized orientation, and employee input. Coaches staff as directed by the manager.
Plans, develops, facilitates, and evaluates the implementation of interdisciplinary patient care involving nursing and other clinical disciplines during the assigned shift.
Promotes and achieves high satisfaction among external and internal customers. Effectively intercedes with families and patients to resolve concerns related to the delivery of health care services.
Provides patient care as needed, using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Develops, coordinates, and maintains daily staffing schedules to ensure the appropriate level of unit coverage and continuity of care.
Monitors time and attendance in alignment with MU Health Care policies and practices, ensuring accuracy of records and timely submittal or approval for payroll purposes.

May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
Missouri Board of Nursing RN or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN. When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days.
One (1) year of acute or urgent care RN nursing experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Supervisory experience.
Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and requires ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs.
This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
