Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility using equipment like Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration rates, ensuring accurate documentation in electronic health records (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner.
  • Support medical procedures by preparing patients and assisting healthcare professionals during treatments such as catheter care or phlebotomy.
  • Maintain a safe environment by following aseptic techniques and infection control protocols, especially in infectious disease or ICU settings.
  • Provide compassionate support to individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), behavioral health needs, or those requiring hospice or palliative care.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in acute care, emergency medicine, pediatric units (PICU), geriatrics, or outpatient clinics to deliver comprehensive patient service.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards while maintaining confidentiality of patient records and medical history.

Requirements

  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent; additional certifications such as Basic Life Support (BLS) are preferred.
  • Experience working in diverse healthcare environments including hospitals (Level I Trauma Center experience preferred), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care settings.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and patient safety protocols.
  • Hands-on experience with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks, or similar platforms for accurate medical documentation.
  • Prior experience supporting patients with complex needs such as dementia care, geriatrics, pediatrics (including PICU), behavioral health conditions or post-acute/sub-acute care is highly valued.
  • Ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments like urgent care centers or hospital medicine units while demonstrating excellent caregiving skills.
  • Strong communication skills combined with physical stamina to assist patients safely using equipment like Hoyer lifts and perform vital sign assessments.
