Reports To: Director of Education / Dean of Colleges
Marion S. Whelan School of Practical Nursing- is in need of a Nursing Professor (RN) to educate and support the next generation of LPNs. This program will be taught at Highland Hospital, in Rocheter, NY This role serves as an educator, mentor, and leader—delivering high-quality educational programs and fostering professional growth across clinical specialties.
- Create a positive and engaging learning environment for adult learners
- Plan, develop, and deliver nursing education programs
- Use interactive teaching methods and technology to promote critical thinking
- Evaluate student performance and learning outcomes
- Serve as a role model and mentor to nursing students
- Participate in committees, projects, and community or professional initiatives
- Promote teamwork, lifelong learning, and professional development
- Required:
- Master of Science in Nursing Education
OR - Bachelor's in Nursing with active enrollment in an MSN Education program (must complete within 4 years)
- Preferred:
- Master's degree in Nursing/Education or Doctorate (PhD/DNP/EdD)
- Current, unrestricted New York State RN license (required)
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS (required during clinical orientation)
- Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) (preferred)
- Required: Minimum 3 years of clinical nursing experience
- Preferred: Teaching experience in:
- Medical-Surgical
- Critical Care
- Psychiatry
- Maternity
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Experience working in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Strong organizational and analytical abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
- Familiarity with nursing program accreditation (ACEN, CCNE)
- May involve exposure to blood or body fluids
- Requires adherence to safety and infection control protocols
