About Us
Conscience (www.conscienceit.com) is a world-class education technology and custom software development. We
build industry-first, SaaS-based learning solutions and provide expert work-for-hire
services across:
Our self-sufficient in-house teams handle everything - from concept to deployment and
support. Our primary market is the United States.
Project & Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Nursing Subject Matter Expert (SME) to design dosage
calculation lesson content and formative assessment items for a PN/VN program.
This project involves developing a structured learning resource (not a full assessment
system) consisting of:
- Lesson-based instructional content
- Embedded practice/knowledge checks
- A standalone formative question bank
The solution will be deployed as an eLearning module and used as part of learning
resources (low-stakes, formative use only).
The client currently uses publisher-based products (e.g., ATI, Elsevier, Wolters Kluwer), and
this initiative is intended to create an original, internally owned alternative aligned to
PN-level competency expectations.
Scope of Work (Controlled via Scope Workbook)
The detailed scope (lesson count, screen count, question volume, and distribution) will be
defined in a client-approved scope workbook.
At a high level, the SME will contribute to:
- 20–25 lessons across 5 terms
- 8–12 screens per lesson (~300 screens total)
- 150-question formative question bank (30 per term)
The SME is expected to follow the approved lesson structure and volume as defined in the
workbook.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop original lesson content across 5 terms with progression in complexity
- Create explanations, demonstrations, worked examples, and guided practice based on the
dimensional analysis method
- Develop original formative question items (MCQ, SATA, numeric, scenario-based)
- Provide simulation-oriented input concepts
- Ensure clinical accuracy and PN-level appropriateness
- Maintain consistency in terminology and methodology
- Validate all calculations and rationales
Lesson Content Development Requirements
Each lesson must include:
- Intro / Context
- Concept Explanation
- Demonstration
- Guided Practice
- Recap
Each lesson must be 8–12 screens with visuals (references for graphics team) where
required.
Question Development Requirements
The SME will develop a standalone question bank (150 items total).
Each question must include:
- Stem
- Options
- Answer
- Solution
- Rationale
- Difficulty level
- Topic tag
- Simulation suitability
Difficulty Progression Expectations
Term 1: Basic
Term 2: Multi-step
Term 3: IV calculations
Term 4: Weight-based
Term 5: OB/Pediatrics
Simulation Design Input
Provide:
- Learner action
- Correct/incorrect logic
- Outcomes
- Key values
Content Development & Alignment Expectations
- Align with PN/VN scope
- Avoid RN-level overcomplexity
- Reflect real-world practice
Content Originality & Intellectual Property Compliance
Familiarity with publisher-based dosage calculation products (e.g., ATI, Elsevier, Wolters
Kluwer) is helpful for understanding learner expectations; however, all content developed
under this engagement must be entirely original, independently authored, and created from
first principles.
The SME must not copy, reproduce, adapt, or derive content from any proprietary or
licensed sources, including but not limited to NCLEX examination materials, ATI, Elsevier,
Wolters Kluwer, textbooks, or publisher-owned question banks.
Content should be designed to reflect PN-level competency, clinical reasoning, and
medication safety principles, and may be informed by general domain knowledge, but must
not replicate or closely resemble existing copyrighted materials.
This project is intended to develop a formative learning resource that supports competency
development and reinforces key dosage calculation concepts. It is not intended to replicate
or reproduce high-stakes testing systems or proprietary assessment products.
Content Format & Submission
Submit all content in a structured format (Excel/Google Sheets) aligned to the provided
templates.
Acceptance Criteria
- Clinical accuracy
- Clarity
- Consistency
- Completeness
Learner Level & Tone
- PN-level
- Clear and practical
Review & Collaboration
- 1–2 revision cycles (as agreed with end client/US based Institution).
Deliverables
- Lesson content
- Question bank
- Simulation inputs
Required Qualifications
- Active U.S. RN license
- ADN minimum (BSN preferred)
- PN teaching/academia background.
Preferred Experience
- NCLEX-style content
- Simulation exposure
Portfolio Requirement
- 1 sample lesson
- 5–6 sample questions
