1. Patient Care
- Provide direct nursing care using the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation).
- Monitor patient condition and promptly report abnormalities.
- Assist doctors during procedures and emergencies.
- Ensure continuity of care through proper handovers and documentation.
- Educate and counsel patients and families about health, treatment, and discharge instructions.
2. Medication Management (MOM Standards)
- Administer medicines safely following the 6 R’s (right patient, drug, dose, time, route, documentation).
- Check expiry, label, and allergy status before administration.
- Report and record medication errors or adverse drug reactions immediately.
- Maintain safe storage and return of drugs as per hospital policy.
3. Infection Prevention & Control (HIC Standards)
- Follow hand hygiene, PPE use, and aseptic techniques.
- Segregate and dispose of biomedical waste per color coding.
- Report needle-stick injuries and participate in infection surveillance.
- Participate in infection control training and audits.
4. Documentation & Record Keeping (IMS Standards)
- Maintain accurate, timely, and legible nursing records (vitals, medications, assessments, care plans).
- Ensure confidentiality and proper filing of records.
- Follow hospital formats and approved abbreviations.
- Participate in record audits and data accuracy reviews.
5. Patient Safety & Quality (CQI & COP Standards)
- Adhere to NABH patient safety goals (correct identification, communication, infection control, safe medication use).
- Participate in safety rounds, internal audits, and mock drills (fire, code blue, disaster).
- Identify, report, and help analyze incidents, near misses, and sentinel events.
- Ensure safe environment and functioning of all equipment.
6. Communication & Coordination
- Maintain effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
- Ensure smooth coordination with laboratory, pharmacy, and other support services.
- Provide complete and accurate information during shift handovers.
7. Training & Professional Development (HRM Standards)
- Attend mandatory in-service education (infection control, fire safety, BLS)
- Participate in periodic competency assessments and continuing nursing education.
- Maintain valid nursing registration and update knowledge regularly.
- Support induction and mentoring of new nurses and students.
8. Administrative & Support Duties
- Maintain adequate stock of medicines, consumables, and equipment in assigned areas.
- Ensure proper upkeep, calibration, and maintenance of biomedical equipment.
- Maintain ward discipline, hygiene, and safety at all times.
- Participate in quality improvement and hospital accreditation activities.
9. Ethical & Legal Responsibilities
- Uphold patient rights, dignity, and confidentiality as per NABH.
- Report any ethical concerns or malpractice through appropriate channels.
- Maintain professionalism and integrity in all interactions.
Qualification:
- GNM / B.Sc. Nursing from recognized institution
- Valid State Nursing Council registration
Experience:
- 0–2 years (general areas) / 1–3 years (specialty areas)
