JOB PURPOSE

The Occupational Health Nurse provides comprehensive healthcare services to company employees, including medical examinations and ongoing health management. This role focuses on promoting health, preventing illness and injury, and protecting individuals from occupational and environmental hazards in the workplace. The nurse supports regulatory compliance and adherence to company policies to help mitigate occupational risks. Serving as a vital link between employees, management, and external healthcare providers, the nurse helps maintain business continuity, reduce health-related risks, and ensure employees are fit for duty.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Emergency Response

  • Awareness of the company Emergency Action and Accountability Procedure and their role as a nurse.
  • Remain alert to attend to any case of employee health emergency within company premises in order to ensure that emergencies are addressed promptly and adequately.

Medical Examinations

  • Schedule employees for job related periodic medical examinations within the regulatory time limits.
  • Conduct job related periodic medical examinations as per the Medical Surveillance Standard
  • Timely reporting of abnormal medical finding to senior nurse or Head of Health to ensure review and follow-up.

Case Management

  • Simple case management and return to work evaluations following employee sick leave to ensure fitness for duty.
  • Injury management of occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses to ensure fitness for duty.

Health Promotion

  • Provision of health counselling, health education to individual employees to promote health and wellbeing.
  • Provision of training programs to employees such as Blood borne pathogen awareness.
  • Assisting Senior Occupational Health Nurse and HHS making health information leaflets, board displays, TV presentations to promote employee health and wellbeing.

Documentation and Confidentiality

  • Accurate documentation of care and medical advice provided to employees in medical records system.
  • Maintain medical confidentiality when reporting sick leave to Supervisors, Managers and Human Capital.

Private Medical Insurance (PMI)

  • Day to day additions and deletions of employees and dependents as required by staff movements.
  • Advise employees regarding the benefits and limits of PMI scheme to encourage proper usage.
  • Assist employees with reimbursement claims to ensure accurate and timely submission to PMI provider.

Daily Clinic Management

  • Stock management of medical disposables and pharmaceuticals through stock check and re-ordering.
  • Daily/weekly/monthly checking and calibration of clinic equipment as required by manufacturer instructions.
  • 24 hr On-Call duty, approximately 1 week in 4 (may vary due to vacations).

Quality, Health, Security, Safety and Environment

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and relevant quality, health, safety, security and environmental procedures and controls across the Section to guarantee employee safety and delivery of high-quality products/services.
  • Deliver high quality service to uphold employee health and safety.

Reporting

  • Record daily patient management activities in clinic log.
  • Use clinic log to input data to monthly report provided to Chief HSE Officer for review of department activities.
  • Contribute to the preparation of timely and accurate reports to meet departmental requirements, policies and standards.

Qatarization

  • Contribute to the development of Qatari employees. This accountability is applicable to expatriate employees only.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Education

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.

Preferred: Post Graduate certificate in Occupational and/or Environmental Nursing.

Experience

Required: Total of 5-7 years of experience in a hospital/clinic or similar medical facility field.

Preferred: Experience in Oil and Gas Industry as plant/industrial nurse or medic.

Licensure

Required: Current Nursing License from Home Country

Preferred: Current Nursing License from Qatar
